Description:

Our client’s seeks a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join their talented kitchen team. In this role, you’ll be the Executive Chef’s right hand, playing a pivotal role in crafting innovative menus, leading the kitchen brigade, and ensuring impeccable service that exceeds guest expectations. Your responsibilities will include assisting in menu planning, training junior staff, ensuring food quality and kitchen hygiene, and leading the kitchen team in the Executive Chef’s absence.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Executive Chef.
Assist the Executive Chef with menu planning and food development.
Oversee kitchen team cleanliness and hygiene.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is used properly, working well, and safe to use.
Control food quality and assist with stock taking alongside the Executive Chef.
Lead the service team, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Check all prep sections and fridges after each service.
Ensure all prep lists are completed on time.
Conduct food preparation and quality taste testing to ensure recipe understanding.
Alert the Executive Chef on low stock and assist in placing orders.
Assume the role of the Executive Chef during their absence.
Matric with minimum English and Math literacy.
Diploma in food preparation and culinary arts.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a high-end dining kitchen.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Attention to detail.
Good time management skills.
Ability to produce high-quality dishes consistently.
Good physical ability to perform the job, including long hours of standing, moving, and carrying objects.
Willingness to learn and train others constructively.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word/Excel).
