ABOUT YOU

We are seeking someone who has a real passion for delivering memorable guest experience through culinary excellence! This role will suit someone who has experience working in a fast-paced training environment, can prioritise and has great attention to detail. Your ability to communicate with employees across all levels of experience will foster open communication and trust amongst our kitchen teams, ensuring accountability and clarity in all training initiatives.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef to step into the world of Village Cinemas! The Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in leading our kitchen operations across our 14 Gold Class cinema locations. Your main priority will be to provide training to our kitchen team members and drive operational excellence and standards throughout the cinema locations. Your strong leadership skills coupled with your culinary expertise will help empower our cinema teams to develop their skills and thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
This role will have you travelling between our cinema locations across Victoria, therefore having access to your own vehicle is a requirement. This is a full-time role with a rotating roster to ensure that we cover peak trading times across the cinema week, This will require hours outside of normal working hours and weekends.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide hands-on training and guidance to kitchen team members ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols
  • Develop training programs and content tailored to unskilled kitchen team members, focusing on foundational culinary skills, food safety practices, and kitchen procedures
  • Monitor food quality, taste, and presentation to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction, and provide feedback and coaching to team members
  • Ensure that kitchen team members are familiar with all menu items, recipes and cooking techniques while providing ongoing support and assistance
  • Assist in planning and executing large-scale functions and events, collaborating with multiple departments to ensure seamless execution and guest satisfaction
  • Conduct training sessions on food safety practices, sanitation standards and health regulations to promote a safe and clean working environment

YOU WILL SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE BELOW:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
  • Food Handling Certificate (Level 2)
  • Minimum 5-7 years kitchen experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask
