The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Mission Systems & Autonomy (MS&A) software capability is seeking a Spaced-Based Missile Warning Software IPT/Product Line SME in Huntington Beach, California.
The selected candidate will work with the BR&T Payload Products & Technologies (PP&T) product team focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design and development of an advanced space-based imaging sensor payloads. The position will involve creating software products for image sensor payloads and space vehicle flight control.
The selected candidate will work with the PP&T product team on providing complete solutions, including systems engineering, optics design, algorithms, software development, firmware development, and electronics. The candidate will work with software product-line owner, program managers, and development leads to create common software products and tailor for use on a portfolio of customer-funded programs.
The successful candidate will work across programs to ensure software products are developed for commonality and tailored to meet mission need. The candidate will work with development leads for satellite flight and payload software, firmware, and algorithms to ensure engineering excellence and achieve program objectives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILL/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 10+ years of experience with software development in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and DevOps processes/tools
  • 10+ or more years of experience developing and debugging software using high level programming languages (C and C++)
  • 10+ years of experience working on satellite spacecraft systems
  • Experience with Software Development, Architecture, and/or Product Management, or Systems Engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
  • Experience with new product development with small, agile teams on fast-paced, dynamic customer-funded programs
  • Experience with fault tolerant architectures and designs

Typical Education/Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

Responsibilities:

  • Expert in missile warning capability software architectures for image sensor payloads, space vehicle flight control, and ground system mission processing
  • Lead in flight and ground software requirements, architectures, designs, interfaces, technologies
  • Serves as company and customer focal on missile warning software products and future direction.
  • Establish common software product line for space-based missile warning capabilities funded through customer contracts and delivered to multiple programs.
  • Serve on program review boards (ERB, CCB, SARB, RIO, etc.)
  • Drive flight and payload software product line architecture and strategic reuse across all programs
  • Drive software execution to deliver products on-cost and on-schedule to programs
  • Responsible for satellite and payload software safety, assurance, quality, and engineering excellence
