QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a three-year Community College Diploma Program in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Studies or approved equivalent.
  • Up to one year experience working in a Water and Wastewater environment
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
  • Knowledge of applicable guidelines, procedures, standards, and legislation including Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of public consultation process, program development, planning, design and construction and Water and Wastewater Infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in water and wastewater treatment process, conveyance and collection system design, technical data collection, design development, project reporting and progress tracking.

Responsibilities:

POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Project Manager, is responsible for reviewing Water and Wastewater designs; assisting with the preparation of environmental assessments, contract drawings, tender documents, specifications and estimates; and assisting with project management for Water and Wastewater construction projects.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in ensuring that projects are carried out according to procedures, plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Provides input and technical support for projects under the direction of Management and/or Senior staff.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of projects (environmental assessments, design and tendering, construction) including financial and schedule management.
  • Provides input and prepares plans, sketches, graphs, maps, and background materials, as directed.
  • Participates and provides input in the preparation of work plans, studies, tenders, specifications and estimates for projects.
  • Liaises with internal and external staff, outside agencies, contractors and the public on construction projects and provides technical information.
  • Manages information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.
  • Carries out site inspections to ensure accuracy of data, as required.
