Description:

The Royal Marsden NHS Trust is the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe with a national and international reputation for high quality patient care, research development and education. Our Laboratories are situated on 3 sites: one in Central London (Chelsea), Cavendish Square and one at Sutton in Surrey.
We have a band 6 vacancy for a newly qualified BMS in the Biochemistry Department based at our Sutton site but rotations to Chelsea and or Cavendish Square might be required according to Service Needs.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the On-Call rota after suitable training. This is currently paid under a sessional rate agreement with recovery time, complying with the European Work Time Directive. The department encourages and supports further education and personal development.
Our main analytical platforms in Biochemistry include the Ortho Vitro 5600 and XT3400, Sebia Hydrasys and Capillarys 2 flex, Optilite, Bio-rad D10, Beckman Coulter (Access II), Diasorin Liaison XL and the Mic-PCR qPCR cycler for DPYD testing. Previous experience using these analysers is not a requirement but it could help you expand some of your existing skills.
The successful applicant may also be expected to participate in multi-disciplinary working in Blood Sciences as the need of the service arises. Full training will be provided.
The post holder will deliver a fit for purpose Blood Sciences service and is primarily responsible for the analytical service. The post holder will rotate through all sections of the department. The key working relationships will be with staff in Biochemistry, but the post holder will be expected to liaise with staff throughout pathology and the Trust. There will be frequent occasions when the post holder takes sole responsibility for work, for example when no senior staff are present.
