Do you enjoy working clinically but not ready to specialise yet? Do you want to gain experience in a large teaching hospital learning from advanced level and consultant pharmacists? Due to new funding, we have a part-time opportunity on our highly regarded clinical pharmacy rotation, ideal for a pharmacist looking to develop a portfolio career.
We are looking for flexible and dedicated band 7 rotational clinical pharmacists. You will have the opportunity for development as you rotate through the available rotations and this role provides the ideal opportunity for you to work with specialist and consultant pharmacists while you decide where you would like to develop your own specialism.
UHS has one of the largest pharmacy departments in the country with over 300 staff and are nationally recognised for their innovation. The pharmacist team is made up of over 100 pharmacists: including over 50 qualified independent pharmacist prescribers and several consultant pharmacists and leading national experts.
As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.
All non-clinical roles may involve a mixture of on site and remote working, Specific details and flexible working options can be discussed as part of the interview process. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.
As a department we have a strong commitment to continuing professional development and training. The post-holder will be encouraged to work towards the new RPS core Advanced Practice Curriculum and have the opportunity to undertake further study (e.g. MSc) in either clinical or management qualifications. We are also keen to support pharmacists developing as researchers and can offer support via the Southampton Pharmacy Research Centre. You will be supported by an established Medicines Management Service, a team of specialist pharmacists and an experienced lead care group pharmacist in each area.
What you’ll do
1. To provide a clinical pharmacy service to the area that you have been assigned, with the opportunity to specialise and develop the service to your chosen speciality.
2. To support the Senior Care Group Pharmacist in the provision of a specialist pharmacy service.
3. There will be opportunities to undertake project work
4. As a band 7 you will have the opportunity to supervise, teach and mentor the rotational band 6 and trainee pharmacists within each care group.
