Salary Range: $104,562.55 to $121,518.83 (on a pro-rata basis) per annum + super (subject to skills and experience) + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance + 3.5% annual award increase from 1 July 2024

The Environment & Climate Change Unit prepares and plans for complex environmental, sustainability and engineering programs and projects to achieve quality outcomes for the residents and environment of the Northern Beaches.
The Stormwater & Floodplain Engineering Group within Environment & Climate Change Unit provides both strategic and operational management for the Council’s stormwater assets and floodplain management. This team is tasked with identifying and effectively managing flood risks throughout the local government area. Additionally, the team is responsible for ensuring the high-performance delivery of stormwater asset services. These services include construction, operation, maintenance, and sustainable renewal, all aimed at meeting community needs while minimising environmental impact.
You will be working within the Stormwater Design and Delivery service of the team. The SDD team is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of stormwater and drainage infrastructure across the Northern Beaches. Some projects that the SDD team is currently working on include the South Collaroy Foreshore Renewal, North Harbour Catchment Study, multiple Drainage Improvements, Augmentations, and Upgrades across the LGA, and Stormwater Quality Improvements at several locations, including Dee Why Beach and Brookvale Creek.

The key focus areas of this role include:

  • Managing multiple stormwater design and construction projects, of varying complexity and competing deadlines, while ensuring they meet agreed time, budget, and quality constraints.
  • Coordinating the development of practical stormwater engineering designs from concept through to construction, in line with internal and external standards, applicable regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Overseeing the delivery of complex stormwater capital works through effective contractor liaison, site safety and risk management, and nuanced community and stakeholder consultation
