Power Solutions is responsible for developing, verifying, and industrializing wind turbines and related products. Through innovation, development, and continuous product improvement, we develop the products and technologies that reduce the cost of energy and bring the highest possible value to our customers and to Vestas. To put it short: Vestas Power Solutions develops the sustainable energy solutions of the future. The Generator submodule consists of approx. 23 skilled employees, situated at our main locations in Denmark, Germany, and Portugal. The department is accountable for the Generator submodule, converting the mechanical energy from the wind turbine rotor and drivetrain into raw electrical power. In the Generator submodule we build our design on a long tradition of both in-house and externally supplied generator products of both induction & synchronous types. We focus on providing solutions with predictable performance, reliability, and cost to the market - faster than our competitors. Our own generator manufacturing capabilities is here the golden nugget. We have an immediate opening for a Generator specialist, responsible for delivering advance technology- and new product developments within the Generator submodule. Activities hereunder involves all facets of product development, from early feasibility studies and preparation of concepts to detailed product design and verification. Many activities hereunder are run through external suppliers and networks around the globe, and this aspect requires a candidate who possesses good communication- and stakeholder management skills, and not least - a distinct ability to deliver technical projects forward.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • M. Sc./B. Sc. in e.g. Mechanical-, Electromechanical engineering
  • 5-7 years of proven experience in product development (desirable within drive technology)
  • Experienced in handling complex technical problems in global project organizations
  • Advanced language skills (speaking and writing) are required
  • Knowledge of six-sigma/system engineering tools, e.g., requirement management and DFMEA
  • Work experience within global matrix organizations or within wind industry is a valuable asset
  • Knowledge of product cost basis, planning, and value chain processes

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will development of advance technology-, new submodule- and component developments following Vestas’s project frameworks, processes, and stage/gate models. You will work with advanced engineering tools and in teams with project managers, technical experts, and members of the value chain. You will provide technical project leadership throughout all stages of the projects.

Main activities under this responsibility will include:

  • Define technical scope and break it down into work packages
  • Align deliverables and deadlines with relevant stakeholders
  • Plan work package execution in JIRA together with development team
  • Balance trade-offs in generator design against targets on performance, quality, and cost
  • Prepare- and provide peer reviews and technical reviews
  • Quality assurance of technical solutions
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and issues within the agreed project scope
  • Manage stakeholders and interfacing systems/components
