Description:
Education and/or Special Education certification and training;
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of supports available to support students wit
Responsibilities:
- Connecting schools with service providers who can help with access to additional
support for students and families;
- Implementing professional development sessions to support First Nation schools with
students who have or are suspected of having neurodivergent exceptionalities;
- Supporting First Nation school staff (principals, teachers, Learning Assistance Teachers,
and Education Assistants) by sharing information and responding to questions as
needed that are related to students who have or are suspected of having neurodivergent
exceptionalities;
- Assisting school principals in identifying relevant training and professional development
opportunities for First Nation school staff to build their capacity to support students who
have neurodivergent exceptionalities;
- Supporting the SEP Networks as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the field of special education support
preferably in school setting supporting students with developmental disabilities and
exceptionalities related to executive functioning;
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field with a major in Special
Education and/or Special Education certification and training;
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of supports available to support students with
developmental disabilities and exceptionalities related to executive functioning in the
Province of BC;
- Valid drivers’ license and satisfactory criminal record check;
- An understanding of First Nations education issues.
