JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our neurophysiotherapy rotation at Epsom General Hospital. The successful candidate will rotate across a variety of clinical areas including inpatient care on our acute stroke unit and in-patient rehabilitation unit as well as community rehabilitation services in our Stroke Supported Discharge and community neuro-rehabilitation services.
This is an exciting opportunity to further develop your clinical skills in neurology and complex conditions, within a friendly and supportive team.
CPD is actively encouraged both within service provision and with externally funded courses. Staff within each team are supervised by senior physiotherapy clinicians supporting staff to achieve learning outcomes within each speciality. There are in-service training within teams and a joint therapy seminar in which you will participate. Service development is actively encouraged and also peer support through regular team meetings.
There is a requirement for all acute physiotherapy staff to participate in the respiratory on call evening and weekend rotas.

Responsibilities:

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB

  • To assess and treat own specialist caseload of neurological patients and maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To supervise less experienced physiotherapists and students within this speciality.
  • To feed back and receive guidance from Band 7 / Therapies Clinical Manager / Clinical Specialist on a frequent basis.
  • To effectively manage patients from admission, through their in-patient stage and plan ongoing therapy once discharged, including offering telephone advice to patients.
  • To effectively manage patients’ neurophysiotherapy needs in the community.
  • To work effectively as part of MDT delivering neurorehabilitation services in acute and community settings.
  • To participate in respiratory on-call rota at Epsom General Hospital
