Description:

The successful candidate will manage, maintain and support the chronic pain outpatient clinics, working with the Chronic Pain Consultants.
The post holder will provide leadership, management, and direction for all groups of staff including clinical support staff to ensure that education and staff development needs are met within the area for which they are accountable. They will provide evidence-based high quality patient care advice and be visible, accessible, responsive and act as role model for all staff.
The clinic involves delivery of chronic pain specialist treatments such as lignocaine infusions and trigger point injections. These clinics are consultant led and there is an opportunity to develop this nursing role in chronic pain to meet service needs. One of these opportunities is to look at nurse led treatment follow up clinics.
There will be opportunity for the successful candidate to work alongside the Acute Pain nurses and attend inpatient pain ward rounds.
This post will involve working at both Coventry and Rugby Sites
Provide expert daily leadership and support to all levels of staff in the chronic pain outpatients clinic
As the Registered nurse working in the clinic on , they will be responsible for managing ad hoc situations as they arise in the ward environment that require senior nursing intervention, escalating.as appropriate
Management of workload on each shift, ensuring appropriate allocation of duties. Oversight for ensuring management, supervision, and support to junior staff to ensure coordination of clinical activities.
Manage clinics to ensure that relevant documentation and results are available for each patients visit, ensuring the smooth running of the clinic.
Support the Chronic pain consultants to deliver the prescribed treatments safely, monitoring the patients in accordance with consultants’ guidance.
Demonstrate skills in multi-professional team working in which the leadership role responds to change. Utilise team leadership and team building skills to organise the safe and effective delivery of care.

Work alongside the Chronic Pain Consultants, facilitating a telephone follow up service for Treatment’s receive
Where identified, to attend and complete relevant training and development opportunities to support this. Full attendance and completion of identified courses is considered essential and a pre requisite for this post

Developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations
Promote and deliver evidence based care for patients referred to the acute pain team
Assist with education and training provision of clinical staff, patients and carers in relation to pain control and analgesia techniques.
Responsible for accurate, timely documentation of clinical plan in patients’ records both computerised and paper based.
Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data available.
Identify and implement, in collaboration with the multi-professional team, appropriate areas for research and audit
Establish and maintain professional networking relationships between departments in the trust to promote best practice in the trust
Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
