Our fast paced, dynamic team can’t wait for you to join us to play your part in the safe assessment, treatment and discharge planning of our diverse patients.
You’ll be proud of your motivated and hardworking approach, joining and complementing our established therapy team delivering a service to acute medicine.
Working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, you will learn lots of new skills and experiences as you meet new colleagues from all different backgrounds. This approach not only means tons of variety, but also you’ll learn from the best and will be able to take all this learning with you to enhance your future career.
A day in your life here will include morning board rounds with the MDT to identify patients appropriate for therapy, the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of a variety of patients with complex needs and liaison with the discharge facilitators, discharge assessment nurses and social workers to ensure the least restrictive discharge options are chosen that maintain our patients safety.
We regularly provide both standard and specialist equipment including wheelchairs to increase our patients independence and are often involved in fast track discharges when the patients preferred place of care is home.
There is also a band 6 Occupational Therapy forum that meets each month that provides a safe space for discussion with your peers as well as presentations and training from a range of speakers. We work in a fast paced environment and can promise that you’ll never be bored or short of things to do!

You will have excellent communication skills to enhance your working relationships and interactions with patients as well as a strong rehabilitation focus. When you’re not treating patient you’ll have the opportunity to attend in service training both within our team and as part of Core Therapies such as the cognitive and perceptual training led by our Occupational Therapy team. This training covers areas such as attention, memory, insight, capacity and challenging behaviour and will provide you with the skills required to manage cognitively impaired patients on your ward. We are always looking to develop our service and this is something we’d love you to be involved in with our team meetings being a great place for us all to share and expand our ideas. Alongside this you’ll have the opportunity to provide supervision and appraisal to our therapy assistants and student. There is also a band 6 Occupational Therapy forum that meets each month that provides a safe space for discussion with your peers as well as presentations and training from a range of speakers.
