Description:

Are you looking for a neuro specialist band 6 role? Do you want to work in a regional specialist unit for neuro? Building skills in acute neurosurgery, neurology and neuro oncology. Well then look no further!
Based at the regional centre for neurosurgery, neurorehab and major trauma you’ll be working within our integrated teams of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants to deliver excellent patient-centred care. You will also work closely with the wider MDT to promote integrated assessment, intervention and rehabilitation as well as in partnership with our community colleagues to provide a high quality, seamless service for our patients.
Working with a wide range of neurological conditions will equip you with a multitude of transferrable skills including cognitive and functional assessments, across acute services whilst providing rehab to patients awaiting NRU. You will have the ability to develop and use established skills as a neuro specialist Occupational Therapist who is able to truly treat patients holistically.
As you can see this post is a rare opportunity with a true neuro focus and that’s what we think makes it so great. We’re excited to welcome you into the team and are looking forward to supporting you in the next step of your career to ensure you get the most out of this opportunity so don’t wait any longer, apply today!
The acute Neurosurgery team and Neuro-rehab team are Specialist Regional Services providing assessment and rehabilitation following neurological trauma, surgery or disease within Lancashire and South Cumbria. The teams pride themselves on providing the best possible complex neurological care for patients whilst increasing their independence, in the rehab and acute neuroscience settings.
Within neurosciences a normal day starts with the MDT handover and prioritising your day, then cracking on with assessment of function and cognition, treatments across the five wards and discharge planning.
Active involvement in continuing professional development is a key requirement, alongside a commitment to promote clinical governance and evidence based practice and therefore we encourage you to take advantage of available opportunities to develop your practice. Alongside trust training we also have a comprehensive core therapy cognitive and perceptual training programme and therapeutic moving and handling training. We invite in external companies/individuals to support with training as well as our own fantastic team members putting on training sessions or talks.
You will be fully supported by having regular supervision and in-service training, as well as team meetings to keep up to date with any important information, to share ideas and to work on service developments.
We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.
Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.
You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done. You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.
You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of
You will carry a varied, complex caseload which could include anything from setting rehabilitation goals, assessing for a wheelchair or organising a patients discharge plan.
We know we are biased, but we really want to convey this is a fabulous opportunity, in which you will be fully supported by the existing therapy team and the Professional Leads.
