Description:

The pharmacy department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to be able to offer a vacancy for the position of a Band 6 Specialist Pharmacy Technician - Supply & Distribution.
As a department, it is an innovative and exciting place to work. We continuously work to enhance our services and the roles of the pharmacy team with some examples including: -
Having a new pharmacy robot recently installed
Implementation of a medicines tracking system
Introducing Clinical Pharmacy Technicians as part of our ward based pharmacy teams
As a result of the above, there are regular opportunities for individuals to develop and progress.
You should be enthusiastic, highly motivated and hardworking. Previous experience of working in a supervisory or leadership role would be advantageous as well as an understanding of Good Distribution Practice. You will also be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Provide, co-ordinate, monitor and evaluate high-quality, cost-effective Supply and Distribution services to LTHTr wards/departments and external customers utilising the departmental Wholesale Dealer’s Licence WDA(H).
Manage staff, resources, activity, and information within the Supply & Distribution service.
Work in close conjunction with the Procurement – Lead Pharmacy Technician to ensure that robust systems are in place for the Supply and Distribution of medicines.
Provide leadership and direction to the Senior Pharmacy Assistants, Pharmacy Assistants and other personnel working within the department ensuring professional and service standards are met.
Deputise for the Responsible Person named on the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Wholesale Dealers Licence (WDA(H)) in relation to Supply & Distribution activities.
To represent the pharmacy department at relevant meetings with both internal and external colleagues.
Contribute and lead on the development of new services.
To ensure own work and that of the team is performed following MHRA Legislation and Good Distribution Practice Guidelines
To manage service review meetings with external customers and ensure that SLAs are up to date and maintained.
To act as an EMIS, BD and Checkit super user, supporting effective use of these systems across the department.

Responsibilities:

Communicates all relevant information and advice to the pharmacy, nursing and medical teams; service users; and with external customers and organisations as required
Maintains confidentiality at all times and communicates in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures
Responsible for effective utilisation of staff and for the management and planning of staff rosters to ensure appropriate deployment of people and skills
Delivers cost effective use of medicines ensuring minimal wastage
Contribute to the monitoring of departmental KPIs and generation of action plans if applicable
Lead and manage the work of pharmacy Technicians and Assistants.
Implement and execute HR policies and procedures.
Actively participates in the appraisal and personal development planning process as both reviewer and reviewee.
