Description:

We are offering a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced band 6 to join the Neonatal and Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) team working for University College London Hospital Foundation NHS Trust (UCLH).
You will provide specialist SLT care to a complex paediatric caseload and level 3 Neonatal Unit (NNU) at University College London Hospital; dedicating your time across NNU and Acute Paediatrics services.
With support and development of your competencies, you will provide both in-patient and out-patient SLT expertise across the neonatal, child and teenage age range and be part of an innovative and expert SLT and multi-professional team within neonatal and acute paediatric specialities.
With support from your senior colleagues, to deliver a specialist SLT service to the UCH Acute Paediatric In-patient Service and the Neonatal Unit: NICU, HDU, SCBU and TC.
To deliver specialist SLT care to relevant out-patient clinics.
Using specialist intervention, to support both feeding outcomes and early neurodevelopmental outcomes of premature infants and high risk infants on NNU, infants and children on the acute paediatric ward and more occasionally the teenage wards.
To apply specialist SLT knowledge to inform service improvement and quality outcomes.
To engage pro-actively in receiving expert supervision to support your clinical skill set and competency.
To provide teaching/presentations to multi-professional, multi-levelled audiences.
To support student learning both within the SLT profession and the wider multi-professional arena.
To ensure optimum patient care and experience by engaging with the UCLH Trust values at all times.
To facilitate effective and timely patient management and discharge as part of the multi-professional team, throughout their care pathway.
To be an excellent team player with strong communication and negotiation skills, who thrives working within a large innovative MDT alongside many experts in this field.
To liaise effectively with various agencies within a wide geographical area, including social services, schools, charitable bodies, health teams and other hospital departments including specialist and partnership services.
