Description:

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust and have not been an employee of the Trust in the previous 3 years. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.
It is an opportunity to support learners individual, speech language and communication needs with a focus on ensuring the learners thrive within the college environment and are able to access the colleges specialist curriculum and wider opportunities. The roles will focus on supporting the individual’s communication and facilitating communication inclusive environments.
You will also be a part of the highly respected, passionate and quality focused Speech and Language Therapy Service for IDD and Mental Health in Nottinghamshire - who work across Youth Justice, CAMHS, IDD, Autism services and Forensic services. You will be well supported and supervised by a Highly Specialist SLT, with many opportunities for peer support. You will enjoy close links with our wider team and our SLT colleagues within the East Midlands, and benefit from excellent levels of support, supervision, and CPD opportunities.
Learners attend Landmarks Specialist College to develop their independence skills and employability. Your role is to support the individual and the college in this process by addressing the speech language and communication needs of the individual and ensuring an inclusive communication environment. The Landmarks therapeutic multidisciplinary teamwork in an integrated manner (alongside the learners, teaching and support staff, families/carers, and external agencies) to implement positive outcomes in a functional manner.
You will be contributing to specialist individual Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions, training, and consultancy. You will be working with a fixed caseload of learners, with clear targets for the individual and their environment.

The successful postholder will be based at Landmarks Specialist College and visits bases across South Yorkshire and the East Midlands. The work takes place at different college locations and includes integrated therapy within the day to day running of the education setting.
You will be responsible for the assessment, formulation and management of a specialist clinical caseload ensuring practice is in line our professions standards. This will be done through understanding neurodevelopmental communication differences, and highlighting communication risks and suggesting reasonable adjustments when formulating as a team and considering risk management. You will contribute directly to offering bespoke therapeutic interventions working directly with service users, the MDT, and partners.
The role requires a high level of clinical and professional expertise in order that adults with speech, language and communication needs can benefit from a well-co-ordinated pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective speech and language therapy service within the college setting. The service includes but is not limited to:
Assessment, targets setting and reviews for individuals within the college context and the individual’s EHCP.
Collaborate with teaching and support staff on lesson planning, modelling strategies and joint delivery.
Provide individual and group therapy as assessed and/or where it is specified in the individual’s EHCP. Deliver staff support and training alongside the team.
Inform lead SLT as to training, resources, trends and development needs
Contributing to and implementing the strategy for good communication across Nottinghamshire
Representing the Speech and Language Therapy service at agreed forums as required.
