Description:

A permanent vacancy has become available within the Swansea Bay University Health Board’s Macmillan Therapy Team for a Band 6 Physiotherapist. The team provide a unique, innovative and dynamic approach to rehabilitation for people affected by cancer. The successful candidate will also be instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the “Treat & Transfer” outpatient service for people diagnosed with Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression. This would be an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring individual. You will be working with a team of specialist Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Therapy Technicians in delivering first class care for people affected by cancer. The service provides a range of rehabilitation to help people overcome the symptoms and side effects of cancer and its treatments. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly within the Macmillan Therapy Team, allowing cover throughout the rehabilitation service.
You will have full support and additional oncology training as required and be expected to work as part of a multi disciplinary team and alone with direction from the Physiotherapy lead.
Many of our senior team are educated to Masters level, or above, affording fantastic opportunities for CPD.
To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to the specialist Oncology caseload within the SBUHB as required.
To manage a defined caseload of clients with complex needs within this setting, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, maintaining associated records.
To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
To provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal as delegated by supervisor.
To supervise Physiotherapy students on clinical placements.
To deputise for the Senior Physiotherapists in their absence as required.
Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including a 7-day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365 days of the year.
To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in an in-service training scheme.
To work across the Health Board and travel between SBU Health Board sites as required to support service delivery.
To undertake lone working if required.
To be an active participant in the on-call rota
