Description:
Are you looking to make a difference in the rewarding and expanding area of Perinatal Psychiatry?
“The service provided is literally lifesaving. This team enabled me to survive pregnancy and postnatally by providing a safe and caring place and a safety net when my mental health deteriorated during pregnancy and after the birth of my daughter.”
Are you looking for flexibility that involves remote working, as well as face to face?
Come join our dynamic and innovative multi-disciplinary team providing specialist community perinatal support across the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) area.
The service is based in Bristol and delivers a perinatal mental health pathway from pre-conception through to the infant’s first birthday, providing three work-streams: Specialist Advice and Guidance to all health professionals; An adjunct to existing mental health services, for women with pre-existing serious mental illness; and specialist assessment and treatment of new high risk cases.
Our Perinatal services are also clinically supported by NHS E/I’s South West Parent Infant Mental Health Network consisting of 12 perinatal mental health clinically led teams across the region.
The successful applicant will provide perinatal psyhiatric input via risk assessment, care planning, and crisis planning for women with pre-existing mental health needs, new-onset severe mental health problems and/or who are at risk postpartum. Most clinics will be facilitated by video or face-to-face meetings in our assessment rooms. Occasionally, assessments will be done at the clients’ homes.
Supervision is offered by the Consultant Psychiatrist and most assessments will be presented to our mulitidisciplinary team for their input.
The Specialty Doctor will provide specialist advice to GPs, Consultant Obstetricians and Adult Mental Health clinicians on the use of Psychotropic medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Current and consistent advice on the risks and benefits of medications in pregnancy and breastfeeding will also be provided to our service users by the Specialty Doctor.
The development of an area of special clinical interest, in line with service needs is also encouraged
