Specialty Doctor within Anaesthetics - 10 PA’s - Permanent
Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking applications to appoint Specialty Doctors (Staff Grade level) in the Anaesthetic Department. The post holder will be based solely at Tameside General Hospital at this time, but it is possible that you will be required to cover work at a sister hospital as part of Healthier together programme. Candidates will be expected to have at least 2 to 3 years experience in Anaesthetics.
The post holder will provide middle grade surgeon support to the Consultants and SHO including clinical work and operating lists, at times independent of direct supervision. To work to sustain the provision of an efficient Anaesthetic service to patients, including ensuring, in conjunction with colleagues, the highest quality of care is provided to each individual patient in meeting and delivering its local and national targets.
SAS colleagues in Anaesthetics also form part of the 2nd on call rota covering Maternity and ITU and on occasions 1st on Call.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated medical and nursing staff committed to providing a high quality anaesthetic service to the people of Tameside and Glossop.
4.1 Clinical
The appointee will be expected to participate in the overall provision of Anaesthetic services within the department, to deputise for absent colleagues, to work flexibly, to ensure service and patient care, to achieve value for money through making the most effective use of available resources. This job description is intended to cover the main parts of the post; the actual pattern of work is negotiable to meet service and training needs.
Applicants should enquire regarding any items they may be unsure about.
Once a month, the majority of clinical work is cancelled for one session for audit and CEPOD.
4.2 Training and Post Graduate Education
The college tutor has overall responsibility of supervising training and organisation of educational programmes. The Trust is recognised by the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Post Graduate Dean for Teaching. The prime teaching role of the consultant is the regular instruction of the training grades on a day to day basis during the course of clinical work. It is expected that the consultant will supervise training grade clinical work as an everyday routine and fulfil an active teaching role within the North West, South SHO School of Anaesthesia.
CME is deemed important by the Department of Anaesthetics. All members are required by the Royal College of Anaesthetists to attend meetings regularly to update their education. Study leave support is given in this regard.
4.3 Management
The senior operational decision making body of the Trust is The Operational and Clinical Management Board which comprises the Chief Executive and other Executive Directors, Medical Director and Lead Clinicians
