POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Post Anesthetic Recovery Room department at Mills Memorial Hospital.
The Staff RN, PACU, practices in accordance with the Vision, Values, Ethics and Standards of the organization and of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and within a patient and family centered care model. The Staff RN, PACU, provides nursing care in an acute clinical setting and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of client care. Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Staff Nurse ensures the delivery of client–centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs. This Staff RN, PACU, possesses a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

NORTHERN HEALTH REGIONAL EDUCATION FOR PERIANESTHESIA NURSING (REPAN)

The Regional Education for Perianesthesia Nursing course uses a standardized, evidence informed on-line curriculum offered by Elsevier, called ASPAN Mosby’s Orientation to Perianesthesia Nursing (MOPAN). The program begins with the 14 hour AACN Essentials of ECG and Dysrhythmia Monitoring. MOPAN follows with a 4- week theory portion using a blend of evidence-based online learning modules, virtual touch base to review, skills labs, and simulation to introduce learners to perianesthesia nursing. REPAN includes Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) , which provide essential and valuable knowledge and skills to prepare learners to anticipate and provide safe patient care in the perianesthesia care setting. Successful Candidates will be expected to complete Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) within 6 months following course completion.

  • There are 4 training positions available for 2023/2024
  • Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
  • Learners should expect to make a 6 – 12 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
  • Additional study time, outside of scheduled hours, may be required to successfully complete the program
  • Flexibility for practicums is necessary
  • Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
  • Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing

applicable to the education program.

training will be provided
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:00 to 16:00

Terrace The thriving community of Terrace is northern living at its best. Snow-capped mountains, pristine glacier-fed rivers, lakes and streams all add to the beauty of this community. The main industries in Terrace are communications, transportation and natural resources. The population is approximately 12,700. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.

  • Knowledge Integration – Using factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research-based
  • evidence. Integrates best practice from nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts, and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
