Are you looking for your next opportunity to develop specialist dysphagia and communication skills with a varied, medical and surgical caseload?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Band 5 speech and language therapist (SLT) with established dysphagia skills who has a passion to work with patients across the medical and surgical pathways.
This amazing post provides opportunities to develop further specialist skills in an area of your own personal interest and enable you to progress towards becoming a Band 6 specialist SLT!
You will gain experience working across emergency medicine, respiratory medicine, enhance high care, gastroenterology, vascular and orthopaedic surgery, elderly medicine, acute frailty, admission avoidance and critical care step down pathways. This varied and exciting post will then facilitate your progression to becoming a Specialist Band 6 SLT
You will thrive working with different MDTs to deliver holistic patient care as well as partake in quality improvement projects to review and improve service delivery. You are required to have established skills in dysphagia management, working towards RCSLT level B competencies in addition to having the skills to support the communication needs of patients in an acute setting. You will be able to demonstrate prioritisation and problem solving skills and work flexibly and responsively to the changing service needs involved in cross site working with support from the medical/surgical clinical leads.
The Speech and Language therapy team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a large, friendly and innovative team comprised of 30 staff and is part of Integrated Nutrition and Communication Services which includes the Department of Dietetics and The Nutrition Nurse Team. You will gain exposure to videofluoroscopy and FEES and have excellent clinical supervision from senior SLTs as well as opportunities for peer supervision. We place a strong focus on evidence-based practice, CPD, appraisal and training opportunities which will support your progression and development into a Band 6 SLT role.
