The Speech and Language Therapy team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay have a new and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join the SLT team at Furness General Hospital
The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay trust is nestled alongside the beautiful Lake District National park offering adventure and positive work life balance to employees and local residents.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, supportive Speech & Language Therapy Team at Furness General Hospital who are experienced in offering support to Speech and Language Therapists to develop your skills and interests.
Our team has a “grow your own” approach with many members of the team having joined as newly qualified SLTs, being supported to be progress to more specialist and senior roles throughout their careers.
As a Band 6 SLT, you will have a broad caseload of patients on a variety of different wards. This is an excellent opportunity to experience multiple specialty areas including general acute, acute frailty, respiratory and rehabilitation. Ideally you will have completed dysphagia training and have some experience of working in an acute setting. You will be a team player and confident of working in a busy multidisciplinary team.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
