KO MĀTOU TĒNEI | ABOUT US

Harbour Hospice is one of the largest hospices in Aotearoa and has been caring for tūroro (patients) and their family and whānau for more than 40 years. Every day we care for close to 400 people across the North Shore, Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth/Wellsford regions, supporting them at home, in one of our two inpatient units, or in community programmes offered at each of our three sites. Our specialist services, given free of charge, include medical care, spiritual, cultural, psychological and social support, physiotherapy, occupational and complementary therapy, social activities and more. We are a progressive organisation that puts each patient, whānau and family, our community and our people, at the heart of everything.

Responsibilities:

The Spiritual Carer supports patients and their whānau in their differing spiritual and/or religious beliefs utilising Te Whara Tapa Wha Māori health model. You will be an integral member of the MDT providing high quality palliative care to patients and their whānau in our service. You will regularly visit patients referred in Kārohirohi North Shore inpatient unit as well as the community, and develop and maintain a network with other spiritual leaders and community agencies, in order to meet patients’ diverse needs. You will also assist with education and training programmes enabling Harbour people to effectively articulate and support a spiritual care perspective when working with patients and whānau.
