Description:

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta, serving the education needs of approximately 17,750 students in 42 schools. EIPS is recruiting a full-time Spiritual Life Coordinator/Wellness Coach at Fort Saskatchewan Christian.
Fort Saskatchewan Christian serves approximately 430 students in kindergarten to Grade 9, with 25 teaching staff and 12 support staff. The school is located in Fort Saskatchewan, AB, approximately 20 kilometres north of Sherwood Park, AB.
Fort Saskatchewan Christian offers an Alternative Christian program with a mission to assist families by providing students with a Christ-centred, biblically directed education that instills the vision and practice of excellence in academics, moral character and services to others.
Alternative Christian schools within EIPS follow the regular provincial curricula interpreted from an Evangelical Christian Philosophy. A classified staff member is encouraged to bring a Christian viewpoint to issues and topics within their job description. Applicants should be able to support the teacher in bringing a Christian philosophy to issues and topics that arise in the classroom and the school. Applicants should include relevant information about their Christian philosophy of education in their cover letter.
Commencing August 27, 2024
32.5 hours per week (6.5 hours/day)

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in biblical studies, Theological Studies, or Pastoral Care or an acceptable combination of education and a minimum of two years of ministry/work-related experience
Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check
Complete EIPS Confidentiality Declaration
Complete Fort Saskatchewan Christian’s statement of faith declaration
Experience in ministry
Strong interpersonal and shepherding skills
Effective communicator
Love for children

Responsibilities:

ROLE

To facilitate the spiritual growth and development of the staff, students and families of Fort Saskatchewan Christian School.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To provide spiritual assistance and spiritual counsel for the staff, students and families of Fort Saskatchewan Christian in these capacities:
serve as a spiritual advisor for staff
serve as a spiritual advisor for FSCS families
communicate with the School Counselor for student support
serve as a spiritual advisor for the student council
serve as a spiritual advisor for all students at FSCS
serve on the Student Spiritual Life Committee (CHREDA)
Prayer: work towards elevating the role of prayer in the life of Fort Saskatchewan Christian.
Chapel: oversee chapels and work with the teaching chaplains to ensure implementation of grade appropriate, meaningful divisional and all school chapels.
Devotions: oversee and coordinate pastor participation of devotions in staff meetings. This will include leading some of the staff meeting devotion times as well.
Missions: to work with the staff and students in each class to support opportunities for missions and service both locally and globally.
assist with class outreach and fundraising projects
develop connections for outreach in the community
promote the school’s outreach programs
involved with the school’s missions trip
Bible Curriculum: assist staff and teaching chaplains to provide Biblically-based resources.
Shepherding: where possible, support families who are in crisis (i.e., encouragement, flowers, phone calls, etc.).
Staff Remembrances: will oversee the staff remembrances (i.e: condolences, births, illness, etc.).
To develop and direct or assist with extra-curricular activities that enhance the spiritual growth and development of our students, staff and parents.
Students
class devotions as requested.
oversee and schedule the Campus Ministry Team.
assist with spiritual emphasis days
be involved with school event days (i.e., track and field, Run for the Stollery)
Staff
Corporate prayer initiatives.
Parents
Be involved with the Parent Prayer team.
Reporting/Responsibility: will meet at regular intervals with the CHREDA board to give reports. Day-to-day reporting will be to the principal.
