Sr. Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant who will be based in San Antonio, Texas. This role involves managing the day-to-day accounting function, month-end close, and treasury function within the food manufacturing industry. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.

• Lead the organization’s day to day accounting functions
• Handle cost and inventory accounting tasks
• Maintain strong background in General Ledger accounting with experience in full cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable duties
• Conduct remote and on-site bank deposits and ensure daily bank reconciliation
• Send out customer invoices for collections and maintain vendor and customer records in SAGE ERP system
• Prepare and post weekly payroll entries, assist with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Sales Orders, and Receipt of Goods processing
• Prepare and post credit card entries as well as post employee expense reports
• Perform weekly cash forecasting, actual reporting, variance analysis, and prepare weekly check runs
• Perform month-end close including reconciling and closing modules in ERP system
• Update & maintain written closing procedures with specific time targets for each component
• Take responsibility for organizing and supervising each monthly closing process
• Assist in preparations of financial reports and present findings to management
• Coordinate audits and special projects for management
• Generate ad-hoc information to support the analysis of business performance.
• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role
• Strong knowledge of account reconciliation and bank reconciliations
• Proficiency in working with general ledger and journal entries
• Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including advanced Excel formulas
• Experience in performing month end close activities
• Familiarity with Sage Software and SAP ERP for accounting purposes
• Experience in using AS400 system for financial data management
• Ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
• Knowledge of current accounting rules and regulations.
