Description:

We are looking for a dedicated Sr. Accountant to join our team in the non-profit sector, based in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. In this role, you will be tasked with performing various accounting duties, including reconciliation, variance analysis, and lease accounting. This role offers a contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and apply the principles of debit and credit effectively
  • Perform regular reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain deviations from the norm
  • Make accurate journal entries as required
  • Understand and apply lease accounting principles
  • Display proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPS
  • Use accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP effectively
  • Work in accordance with the principles of fund accounting in a non-profit setting
  • Perform month-end close duties on time and accurately
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy and organization in all tasks.
  • Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations
  • Demonstrated experience with general ledger and journal entries
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and month-end close processes
  • Experience with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP software
  • Knowledge of fund accounting in a non-profit context
  • Familiarity with lease accounting principles
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the non-profit industry
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent qualification is preferred
