Description:

Our client in Calgary is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join their team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing payroll accounting, forecasting and reporting of people costs, and supporting payroll operations and projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, reconciliations, and payroll accounting, along with excellent analytical and communication skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial analyst and payroll accounting role, with a focus on financial analysis, reconciliations, and forecasting of people costs.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze, organize, and reconcile data effectively.
Accuracy, attention to detail, results-driven mindset, proactivity, and a high standard of quality in all tasks performed.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and analyze people costs reports, including variance analysis, on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
Generate people costs reports for portfolio reporting by allocating expenses to the Financial Reporting team.
Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts for people costs and analyze reasons for deviations from the business plan.
Support the annual Business Plan reporting process for people costs.
Prepare biweekly payroll expense reports as per group requirements.
Collaborate closely with Tax, Treasury, and Financial Reporting teams to support monthly/quarterly/annual deliverables related to people costs.
Oversee the accounting, processing, and reporting of the Company’s payroll-related accounts.
Support the month-end process by creating, loading, posting, and reconciling bank, payroll expense, and liability GL accounts.
Complete all Canadian and US bank account reconciliations.
Assist Finance teams with payroll accounting-related transactions and required reporting.
Support payroll and benefit invoice reconciliation and payment processing.
Assist in automating payroll costs allocation in the payroll system and adapting payroll costs reporting to meet entity demands.
Identify and pursue process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency in payroll processes.
Assist in integrating payroll information into various cost allocation models within our Brookfield entities.
Support forecast reporting enhancement projects and assist in recurring cost allocation processes across departments within Development.
Ad-hoc duties as requested.
