What you’ll be doing
The CIBC Front Line Technology team (FLT) is responsible for delivering technology solutions to support the business activities of the Retail Banking Centre staff. The team owns and maintains several mission-critical business applications developed in-house. These are implemented in Java SE and JEE, Node.JS/Angular and C# .NET. The team operates using both Agile and Waterfall, and employs modern DevOps tools, CI and CD methodologies. The Senior Application Developer determines methods and approaches to projects, transforming business requirements specifications into programming instructions, designing, coding and testing programs and contribute to the design, development, testing and release of complex enhancements to the team’s applications, with little guidance.

How you’ll succeed

  • Programming Skills - Develop, code and test end-to-end stack of applications. Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including coding, testing, and debugging.
  • Systems Implementation - Participate and conduct technical design, development, and integration of cross functional, multi-platform application systems.
  • Troubleshooting and Technical Skills – Work closely with key business and technology partners to ensure that business and client impact issues are well understood and addressed. Ensure adherence to all regulatory and information security standards and policies are maintained in all aspects of the application management. Provide technical guidance concerning business implications of application development projects
  • Relationship Management - Build strong relationships and partnerships with technical team members, clients, vendors and peers. Lead discussions, listen and ask the right questions to ensure problems/issues are identified and resolved. Express oneself and communicate with others verbally at an advanced level; recognizing that verbal communication is more than just language - it includes tone, style and structure.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience. 5+ years professional work experience in Software Development, Strong planning ability, with close attention to details and multiple work items and prioritize between them.
  • Interact with Business experts to discover business requirements. Work with Business Analysts to clarify documentation of business requirements.
  • Interact with Enterprise Architects to clarify the high-level solution architecture. Engage with 3rd-party software product vendors and Dev teams where needed to work out interfaces or deployment particulars
  • Compute work effort estimates, and interact with Development and Project management to plan the delivery of work and Design the technical solution, in consultation with Development team Consultants and Managers.
  • Develop the solution and corresponding unit tests and execute development-level testing. Coordinate with Development team peers on the integration and co-testing of multi-part solutions.
  • Participate in design and code peer reviews. Work with the Operations team to document the solution’s deployment procedures.
  • Work with and support the Testing team to move the solution through the testing environments and the testing phases. Diagnose and resolve any testing variances found.
  • Expert knowledge in: OO Design - best practices, design patterns, design modelling, Java SE, JEE, Angular/NODE.JS, JUnit, Unit Testing design
  • Experience/Familiarity with: SQL92 and query tuning, Eclipse or IntelliJ, JSON/REST, XML, JAX-WS ,Postman, DevOps Tools: Git, Jira, Confluence,Gradle,Openshift v4, Docker, Linux,GitFlow
  • Nice to have: Light4J,MapStruct,MyBatis,Java Swing
  • You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
