QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong alignment to our Mission, Core Values, and Vision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Must possess a demonstrable knowledge of enterprise systems, network, security, and software administration and engineering within a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Proven Expertise in Linux operating systems (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven Experience in management of 3-tier architecture is required. Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) is a plus.
  • Proven Experience with hypervisor technologies (e.g., VMware, Proxmox) and containerization/orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, ECS).
  • Experience orchestrating containerized computer workloads in AWS.
  • Experience in administration and lifecycle management of MySQL and RabbitMQ.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.) and Infrastructure/Config automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc).
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols, security principles, and system monitoring tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) patterns leveraging Terraform or related technologies.
  • Experience participating in security audits and compliance programs (e.g. PCI, SOC 2 Type 2, etc.)
  • Experience with data streaming and real-time processing technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka) is a plus.

Responsibilities:

THIS IS A HYBRID ROLE, THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE REQUIRED TO REPORT TO OUR HEADQUARTERS IN PITTSBURGH, PA.

The Wolfe Companies are growing fast, and we are looking to add a Sr. Cloud Engineer, Fulfillment Systems to join our expanding engineering team. This is a new position, located in Pittsburgh, PA - because that is where our robots will be. That is right…robots. As a Sr. Cloud Engineer, you will play a lead role in the design, maintenance, and support of mission critical server systems - some of which will soon support a new robotic production facility. This role will also focus on cloud native architecture as well, so a strong hybrid-cloud engineering skillset is preferred. We are doing cool things here at Wolfe, some of which include Fulfillment automation, Next-Gen Card-to-Card Gifting, and even our own Caring as a Platform product. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand infrastructure requirements and implement documented solutions that meet business needs.
  • Lead in prioritizing day-to-day operational support, design, and analysis efforts to ensure the highest levels of site resilience and site reliability engineering objectives
  • Design, deploy, and manage Linux-based systems and applications in both physical and cloud (AWS) environments.
  • Architect, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hybrid cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and scalability. Design for and implement observability in solutions.
  • Maintain, monitor and test backup solutions and high availability designs for business continuity.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Monitor system health, identify issues, and proactively implement solutions to mitigate risks and prevent downtime.
  • Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource optimization for Linux infrastructure.
  • Contribute to creation of runbooks, work instructions and standard operating procedures to improve process automation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering skill development within the team.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for production support.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in cloud engineering and security.
