Description:
Primary Purpose: Reporting into the Head of Growth, the Sr Director, SEO & Growth will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive SEO and growth strategy across World of Good Brands’ premium brands. This role requires a deep understanding of SEO and content strategy, and a proven track record of implementing successful SEO and content processes to increase organic traffic and drive revenue.
A typical day as Sr. Director, Growth & SEO might include:
- Staying on top of the latest industry news, competitor performance, and algorithm updates and sharing insights and recommendations with editorial teams and leadership.
- Analyzing SEO performance data using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEMrush, and flagging positive and negative search trends across brands.
- Partnering with VP, Content Strategy and Operations and Head of Growth to update SEO playbooks and best practices across brand teams.
- Conducting a detailed technical SEO audit of the sites to identify and address issues that may affect search engine visibility and user experience.
- Collaborating with product and engineering teams to implement necessary changes and improvements.
- Facilitating and overseeing in-depth keyword research to identify new opportunities and refine existing content strategies.
- Conducting regular competitive analyses to identify gaps, opportunities, and potential areas for improvement in WBG’s SEO strategy.
- Working closely with editorial teams to ensure SEO objectives align with content plans and effectively target relevant keywords.
- Preparing and presenting comprehensive monthly and quarterly reports to leadership, highlighting key metrics, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights.
- Providing leadership and guidance to the Growth team and encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team.
You’ll be successful if you have the ability to balance a deep technical understanding of SEO with a creative mindset for content strategy and also enjoy navigating the ever-evolving landscape of search. The ideal candidate will be adept at leveraging analytics to derive actionable insights and continually refine their SEO strategy for optimal performance. Success in this role requires effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, clear communication of SEO insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and the agility to adapt to the dynamic nature of our industry.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have a mix of SEO, editorial, analytical, and leadership skills.
- 5-7 years of experience in a senior-level SEO role at a digital-first media brand, with a proven track record of successfully implementing and iterating upon growth strategies.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Experience training non-experts in SEO best practices and providing feedback over time as strategies mature.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the ever-shifting search landscape, industry trends, and SEO best practices.
- Strong analytical skills and extensive experience with analytics tools (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, ahrefs, etc.).
- Ability to organize and analyze performance of new and evergreen content and develop comprehensive strategies to improve traffic and other KPIs
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- A working knowledge of WordPress and AirTable
