Description:
Sr. Engineer, Firmware – Si Photonics
As a Sr. Firmware Engineer you will contribute to the development and maturity of software and firmware for Ayar Labs’ electronic-photonic chips. You will own the initial FW release internally, drive the design verification and develop it all the way to customer release level. As part of this role, you will be expected to work with microcontrollers, FPGAs, and various board-level hardware/software to achieve the desired system functionality. You will be joining a small team in a dynamic startup environment, where each member is expected to take on a wide range of responsibilities and to learn and grow with the company.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters in electrical engineering, computer engineering or equivalent
- 2 to 5 years of experience in FW development & verification for electrical IC application space
- Strong programming background, developing and architecting in low and high level programming languages such as C and Python
- Deep understanding of high speed SerDes Firmware and Firmware architecture
- Hands on approach and comfortable working in a dynamic fast paced environment
- Ability to understand both photonic devices and high speed circuits from layout through design and validation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prefer experience with photonics AND high speed electronics.
- Experience with silicon bringup for high-speed SerDes
- Proficiency with modern version control workflows such as Git
Pay Range: $120,000 to $165,000
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with analog/mixed signal, digital, and photonic block designers to understand chip functionality.
- Perform chip bringup and initial functional test of new custom silicon.
- Develop and optimize firmware/software for controlling complex electronic-photonic chips with multiple high-speed SerDes.
- Collaborate closely with the validation and test team to hand off chip testing platforms after initial silicon bringup.
