Sr. Engineer, System and Hardware Validation
The systems and hardware validation engineer is responsible for validating Ayar Labs multi-wavelength sources and CMOS chiplet performance. Validation covers both component level design validation as well as system performance to ensure a seamless experience when the technology is deployed to Ayar Labs customers. Also responsible for chip and laser characterization, bring up, as well as troubleshooting and resolving core engineering challenges as a product transitions from initial release to customer release. A strong understanding of laser, photonics, CMOS, and system level concepts is strongly preferred along with experience with complex test and measurement techniques. Strong knowledge of data analysis, process control, and statistical methods is also critical.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to bring-up leading edge silicon photonic and laser products
  • Define validation methods required to guarantee products meet both component level and system level product requirements.
  • Perform design validation on new chips/products by electrically and optically characterizing VLSI integrated circuits and optoelectronic systems
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on product improvements through Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), bench characterization, etc.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) by collaborating with Design, Package, and Reliability Engineering
  • Author and maintain customer facing validation reports and documentation.
  • Drive critical decisions around design trade off and spec relaxation to enable products to ship to customers.
  • Develop and maintain software scripts required for validation and test hardware stations.
  • Maintain schedule and execution so that product timelines can meet customer demand.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering or equivalent
  • Strong focus on lasers, photonics, system test, and validation.
  • Experience with component and system test equipment (Bit error rate tester, DCA, OSA, scope) and standard signal quality metrics used in optical standards (TDECQ, SRS, URS, etc).
  • Must have Good programming skills (e.g. Python, C, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering or equivalent

Pay Range is $140K to $160K
