Summary: The Factory Technician will repair, adjust, and maintain seafood processing machinery and related equipment in a shore plant production facility including pumps, motors, conveyors, gears, hydraulic systems and pneumatic equipment, heading, gutting, fillet, and mince machines

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Trade school in maintenance or fabrication studies preferred.
Qualifications: 8 years’ of experience in factory maintenance or manufacturing industry, and/or certifications in specific field relating to required duties. Experience supervising others and managing daily operations. Completion of leadership and development training that meets Trident standards. Associates degree preferred. One or more years in a leadership role. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs. Highly proficient in multiple skills and trades, ability to mentor and teach junior technicians.
Preferred Training and Skills: Proficient with Maintenance Management Systems, especially CMMS or EAM software.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs regular greasing and lubrication of factory equipment to insure proper operating condition.
  • Replaces and sharpen blades, knives and tool heads on equipment as needed during daily routine service.
  • Assists in preventive maintenance tasks assigned by factory technician leadership.
  • Learns and follows all basic equipment, process and safety SOP’s to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace, keeps tools in good working order.
  • Acquires and maintains a working knowledge of company, industry and regulatory Sop’s, codes and standards.
  • Ensures all equipment is greased, serviced and ready for operation as directed.
  • Preforms daily routine maintenance on process and line equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks assigned by sr. techs or supervisor.
  • Identifies issues and deficiencies in equipment and reports to Technician promptly.
  • Assists Level II or III Technicians in scheduled repairs and breakdowns on or off the production floor.
  • Assists with other operating tasks under direction of a senior technician.
  • Ensures optimal and consistent operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance and repair requirements on motors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, and production machines.
  • Troubleshoots equipment as needed and makes necessary improvements.
  • Performs routine daily maintenance and adjustments to equipment as required to meet production goal and requests.
  • Follows location procedure to log out parts as needed for repairs or preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Replaces motors, gearboxes, bearings, and other motion components under supervision of a sr. tech as needed.
  • Knowledgeable about basic 3 phase power, hydraulics, and pneumatic components.
  • Works with Chief Engineer (or assistant) and plant management to schedule repairs and projects.
  • Provides a leadership role in major maintenance repairs and equipment upgrades.
  • Performs basic fabrication tasks as required for improvements or repairs. (i.e., metal fabrication, TIG/MIG welding, etc.)
  • Provides data and reports to management as requested to update on facility operations and issues.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by reviewing technical publications and equipment documentation.
  • Able to direct and/or train other individuals within the department as needed.
  • Assigns all work orders and preventative maintenance tasks and completes review processes.
  • Oversees maintenance of records of work orders and PM of factory equipment according to protocol.
  • Coordinates with Chief Engineer to assign Factory Technician staff to capital project implementation activities.
  • Coordinates with other service departments for needed tasks in fabrication, machining, and electrical skill trades.
  • Provides support to personnel in other disciplines as needed.
  • Coordinates with Inventory Clerk and/or Maintenance Planner in determining required inventory/work order delegations for operations and maintenance start-up/shutdowns.
  • Assists Chief Engineer with budgetary information as needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acquires knowledge of operating Trident’s EAM system which includes the requisition and asset management programs.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
