Job Description:

Financial Analyst will be involved in the full range of financial processes, controls, reports and analyses. Works with others on the design, development, implementation, operation and monitoring of controls and reporting to continuously improve business and process controls, and information and analysis to inform management decision making.

  • Work with department heads to construct yearly budget, while also doing monthly budget vs. actuals and reforecasts as needed
  • Analyze monthly budget vs. actuals for assigned area, including explanation of variances
  • Perform reforecasts for assigned area
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and analysis on financial indicators, business performance and other metrics
  • Create and execute reporting that answers business questions and delivers insights – including owning the relationship with the front office
  • Support process of consult with management team to identify and develop overhead allocation parameters and apply them on a monthly basis to the financial results
  • Analyze trending and develop future estimates for balance sheet, working capital and Return of Capital Employed (ROCE)
  • Assist with monthly close process including analytical review of financials (Balance sheet, Income statement & Cash Flow)
  • Collaborate on financial analysis to support the significant or complex business transactions
  • Execution within defined parameters, with some expansion based on developing capabilities and or experiences in partnership with more experienced staff
  • Identifies and resolves issues
  • Uses some independence of thought, but defer more complex problems to manager or other experts

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in public accounting and/or the Energy industry performing financial analysis, financial accounting, month-end close, and accounts reconciliations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in budget forecasting and business performance analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills, particularly to provide “drill down” reporting capability (vlookup, index, pivot)
  • Experience with data mining and working with large data sets
  • IFRS experience preferred
  • Experience with financial reporting to a foreign Parent Company
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with time-sensitive projects with competing deadlines and stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with financial systems, such as Workday, SAP, or similar
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Knowledge of wholesale energy activities
  • Intermediate PowerBI experience preferred
  • MS Teams experience preferred
