Position Summary:
The role serves as a generalist in a variety of human resources activities. The Sr HR Generalist is a first-level advisor and coach to business management by helping address performance management needs, remedying employee relations concerns, conducting investigations and recommending resolutions. Additionally, the Senior HR Generalist will assist with the roll out of HR initiatives and assist leaders during the implementation of organization changes and HR plans and programs in partnership with Illumina’s HR Business Partner platform.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide coaching & feedback on how to improve individual performance to employees and management across assigned organizations.
  • Counsel management on leadership expectations, communication, change management and progressive discipline.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on employee relations, conducting investigations and resolving complex employee relations issues, including claims of harassment and/or discrimination.
  • Assist in the management of accommodation requests and Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Act as an advocate for employees.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the company needs and future direction in order to ensure business decisions take into account people implications.
  • Participate in cross-functional work groups to gain and offer HR insight on business and operational challenges.
  • Provide HR guidance to employees and managers with regard to benefits, compensation, training, company policies, payroll, etc.
  • Administer and develop HR policies & procedures.
  • Perform qualitative data analysis of turnover, discipline and other metrics and recommend improvement actions to Management and across HR COEs.
  • Participate in cross-functional work groups to gain and offer HR insight on business and operational challenges.
  • Serve as advisor and coach to HR Business Partners.

Preferred Experiential Background:

  • Minimum of 8 years of HR Business Partnering and other relevant HR experience.
  • Experience in employee relations in California
  • Must have a strong knowledge of HR principles and procedures along with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Broad experience in multiple HR disciplines
  • Able to operate autonomously in a global environment
  • Must possess excellent verbal/written communication skills, as well as computer literacy in MS Outlook, Word and Excel.

Preferred Educational Background:

  • BA in Business, ILR, or HR Management
  • PHR/SPHR or other HR Certificate Preferred

The estimated base salary range for the Sr HR Generalist (Hybrid) role based in the United States of America is: $88,200 - $132,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
