Come join the Smith+Nephew machine shop supporting new product development (NPD). This role will give you the opportunity to manufacture prototype parts, tools, and fixturing for the next generation of products that support the Sports Medicine and ENT business units.

What will you be doing?

  • Fabricate unique, low volume components, fixtures and tooling with minimal supervision from complete drawings or even sketches meeting all shop work order requirements.
  • Program, set-up, edit programs, and run CNC machinery such as milling, lathe, EDM, and other machine shop equipment.
  • Develop fabrication and inspection processes, design tools and fixtures and coordinate completion of shop requests.
  • Read drawings, tolerances, and other requirements and inspect these dimensions on final product.
  • Maintain equipment calibration, preventive maintenance and repair
  • Perform regular maintenance of CNC and conventional equipment.
  • Assist in the ordering of tooling and raw material stock to support prototyping activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in shop area.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education: Associate degree, machining technology or equivalent preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 6 years machine shop experience mandatory. Completion of apprenticeship as a machinist required; Senior Journeyman preferred.
  • Travel Requirements: up to 5%
