The commercial organization at Pfizer in made up of three divisions – Oncology, U.S. and International and comprises of around 26,000 colleagues across 125 countries. These colleagues are responsible for bringing over 600 innovative medicines and products to patients around the world and as a member of the Commercial People Experience team you will be responsible for unleashing the power of the people who bring these breakthroughs to patients and deliver Pfizer’s revenue.
The Context
Pfizer’s commercial business encompasses transformational medicines that address major global health priorities including cancer, COVID, infectious diseases, inflammation & immunology, preventative care with vaccines, primary care, and rare diseases. It is also responsible for the advancement of innovative access partnerships with payers and governments around the world.
The Sr. Manager, Colleague Communications & Engagement, will report to the Sr. Director of U.S. Colleague Communications & Engagement. They will serve as a strategic lead to one of the Commercial organizations developing communication and engagement plans and activations in partnership with senior business leaders. They will also support some cross-Commercial communications projects and activations, as needed.
What You Will Achieve:

The role encompasses:

  • Lead the development and execution of colleague communications strategies and plans
  • Provide strategic guidance to leaders and their teams to help produce clear, compelling, and engaging communications that align with US Commercial Key Priorities and the Pfizer Purpose Blueprint
  • Manage and implement colleague communications including culture and change management communications and leader communications to drive understanding of business priorities and key initiatives
  • Communications channels include e-mails from leaders, Town Halls, internal social networking platforms, intranet sites, videos, etc.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to advance creative communications strategies and messaging in support of connecting and engaging a diverse global colleague base
  • Write and edit internal leader speeches, talking points, briefing materials, and presentations. While this role is focused on internal comms, provide some external comms support, when repurposing internal comms for external use, as needed
  • Support cross-functional work with leaders and colleagues from across the business to implement colleague engagement programs in support of critical global initiatives and activities
  • Strategic counsel on initiatives related to organizational design; talent development; culture; diversity, equity and inclusion; recognition; health and wellness; and colleague experience communications

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field such as organizational development/ psychology preferred. Master’s degree a plus.

Capability Requirements:

  • 7+ years of internal communications experience, experience in developing and implementing colleague communications for Commercial organizations preferred.
  • Seasoned colleague communications professional with proven track record of a proactive, strategic approach focused on delivering high value communications that drive our reputation and revenue.
  • Demonstrated track record of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, oral, communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing internal social media platforms (Teams, intranet and Yammer, or similar).
  • Ability to develop, implement and measure success of colleague communications plans.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and levels across highly matrixed organization and manage multiple projects against tight deadlines.
  • Ability to navigate a large, global organization and create an effective network of colleagues across levels.
  • Energetic self-starter; self-directed, with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Quick thinker and ability to navigate ambiguity.

Responsibilities:

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Manager will work closely with both leaders, their Directors of Business Operations, their People Experience leads and their teams, leading communications and serving as an advisor. The Senior Manager will be part of the US Commercial Colleague Communications & Engagement Team and will support cross-Commercial communications.
The Senior Manager will develop and execute strategic communications that inform and inspire colleagues; enhance organizational culture and engagement; position leaders with colleagues; and serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders. Communication tactics include leader comms, content creation, communication plans, recognition and engagement activities.
This role is for a proficient and experienced communicator with excellent writing and editing skills, client counseling experience, and creative energy who is a strategic thinker and has strong execution skills, can be fast and flexible and is a quick learner.
