JOB DESCRIPTION
Work arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Centre or Oshawa Elevation Centre three times per week, at minimum.
YOUR SKILLS & ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Engineering preferred
- 12 + years of experience in SRE , DevOps , or related roles, with a focus on cloud-based infrastructure (Azure , AWS, or GCP only) and automation
- 5 + years of experience in managing large teams of engineers
- Established SRE as a practice within an organization
- Experience leading a global team with 24x7x365 operations
- Experience with cloud security and regulatory compliance
- Experience managing global ly deployed applications
- Experience with managing enterprise level cloud infrastructure budgets
- Experience scaling native cloud infrastructure at an enterprise level
- Experience hiring top talent, building diverse and inclusive teams, foster a culture of healthy work environment that is both supportive and challenging
- A genuine enjoyment of learning about how things work, with the ability to ask engineers good questions about architecture and product decisions
- Ability to work well cross-functionally, and navigate through ambiguity
- Ability to think rigorously and make hard decisions and tradeoffs
- Extreme customer focus, committed to investing in partnerships with other engineering teams to establish empathy and understand their use- cases
- Willingness and ability to travel to US based on job requirements

We are looking for a focused and hands-on people leader with a passion for reliable systems to take extreme ownership of the production operations of our vehicle data systems. As the SRE lead, you will establish reliability requirements to support a scalable, resilient, and observable ecosystem. You will work alongside engineering leaders to educate, advocate, and ensure we are delivering a quality and reliable product from the vehicle to our customers in the cloud. You will build and lead a global team that will monitor, respond, mitigate, and drive resolution for incidents that arise in production.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Build and lead a global team of s ite r eliability e ngineers responsible for system reliability, capacity planning, system monitoring, and incident response.
- Work with product and engineering teams to s et the strategy f o r right-sizing reliability.
- Implement best practices for system performance, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of vehicle data systems.
- Analyze system capacity requirements , plan for future growth , and o ptimiz e resource utilization to ensure efficient operation.
- Establish robust monitoring and alerting mechanisms for early detection of issues.
- Lead incident response efforts during system outages or performance degradation.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and implement improvements.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging continuous learning and growth.
