As the Sr. Manager, External Digital Channels, you are responsible for the Bank’s social media, public website, and digital channels strategy. You will lead the Bank’s overall digital channels program design, execution, and measurement –supporting the organization’s strategic objectives. You will be instrumental in engaging stakeholders in new and innovative ways to achieve greater public understanding of the mission and impact of FRBSF and the Federal Reserve System.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leads overall Bank social media relations, proactive, reactive and crisis communications, and serves as a key news delivery and dialogue engine for the organization. Responsible for positioning of the website as the Bank’s true “front door” to the world.
  • Supports the Bank’s leadership in significant external communications planning. Plays a role in developing and implementing coordinated, high-profile strategic communications plans. Regularly presents to senior leaders.
  • Models and ensures the team has appropriate understanding of context, judgment and accountability on high-visibility external initiatives and projects. Ensures all content aligns with the Bank’s profile to mitigate reputational harm.
  • Builds significant influencer relationships with a deep understanding of emerging digital best practices. Amplifies Bank editorial strategy and communication campaigns in the Office of the President and with the Public Engagement and Economic Research teams.
  • Deeply knowledgeable of trends and current best practices in search, digital, and measurement. Oversees the Bank’s interaction with the public across all external digital channels.
  • Responsible for digital channels and events across Bank Leadership and internal and external bank relationships, including relationships with social platforms and other digital partners.
  • Coaches moderators and speakers on digital best practices as they engage with the public and codifies best practices.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the media team in delivering and cultivating a responsive outreach and crisis communications plan.
  • Surfaces news and Information at the ‘ground level’ in social media. Voracious consumer of economic news, trends, digital happenings, and all things current affairs.
  • Introduces new external influencer relationships to the Bank and new news partners.
  • Delivers Fed news in multiple digital formats and responds to news real-time, in-platform.
  • Works closely with Talent recruitment and other web properties.
  • Extremely strong editorial sensibility and well versed in digital writing and editing.
  • Improves community engagement via relevant content and platform moderation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, English or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Typically has ten or more years of related experience, preferably at an agency or high visibility organization, including seven or more years managing/leading teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of best practices and inner workings of social media platforms, messaging apps, and emerging digital channels– both as a marketer and as a user.
  • Familiarity with recruiting digital platforms and best practices.
  • Familiarity with sponsored content and advertising best practices, including paid social, retargeting, and SEM.
  • Working knowledge of analytics and reporting tools.
  • Extremely detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize projects efficiently to meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative spirit with a team player mentality. Demonstrated ability to coach and motivate others.
  • Strong interest in emerging digital trends and other technologies.
  • Familiarity with the podcasting ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SEO best practices a plus.

LI-Hybrid

Base Salary Range: Min: $145,100 Mid: $188,500 Max: $232,000 (Location: San Francisco)
Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographic and other market data.
