ELEVATOR PITCH

Stacklok just launched two new products, Trusty and Minder, that help developers and open source communities keep their software secure and choose safer dependencies. As we look ahead, we are expanding the platform to meet our customers’ needs and demands. To ensure that, we are seeking a Sr. Manager to help grow our engineering team.
As a Sr. Manager you will be focused on scaling the Software Engineering team. It’s a unique opportunity to help us sharpen hiring practices, design engineering processes that optimize team interactions and fast feedback loops. You’ll collaborate and contribute to the engineering roadmap, drive technical excellence and collaborate with other teams across engineering to deliver more secure, performant and engaging platform experiences that helps developers fortify the software supply chain.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with distributed and highly available systems and have strong technical foundation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and growing engineering teams including managing managers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and management skills.
  • Proven experience leading and executing complex, cross team projects with distributed teams.
  • Experience leading teams through ambiguous situations and delivering business impact.
  • Expertise in agile software development practices.
  • A commitment and drive for quality, technical excellence and impactful business outcomes.
  • Experience within domains such as cybersecurity, developer tooling, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure, is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities:

ROLE SUCCESS: 6-12 MONTH EXPECTATIONS

  • Deliver Stacklok’s commercial software as a service platform.
  • Acclimatize to the team, understanding the workflows, processes, and ongoing projects. This includes getting to know team members, the company culture, and the specific tools and technologies used by Stacklok.
  • Build the foundation for Stacklok’s growth: Hire, lead, grow and coach a team of 7-10 engineers. Help them develop new skills and experiences that help grow their career.
  • Create plans (roadmap/milestones/sprints) that bring visibility to timelines and risks while creating a sustainable pace for the team.
  • Create a culture of accountability and excellence.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Develop a deep understanding of our senior leadership goals and strategic priorities. Amplify and personalize goals and priorities so individual contributors feel deeply connected to the mission.
  • Define and refine engineering hiring practices and ensuring a high quality and consistent candidate experienceResponsible for executing day to day operations of the team (stand ups, Sprint planning, 1 on 1s, etc.)
  • Build a high performing engineering culture with psychological safety and empathyThis role will require you to build strong relationships and partnerships across the company including other Engineering Managers, Engineers, and Product, and Marketing.
