Responsibilities:

PURPOSE

Management of efficient Engineering Operations to ensure that production goals are met. Direct management and support to the production areas within the Manufacturing Engineering Function.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mentors Manufacturing Engineers in Engineering activities/methodologies with an emphasis on Equipment/Systems validation lifecycle by providing input and reviewing documents, reports, memos, change requests. Methods used are determined by approved procedures and standards.
  • Implements a staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, writing justifications for additional personnel, obtaining approval for changes, and coordinating the selection process with Human Resources.
  • Incorporates business policies and procedures into task completion. Understands the business needs of the company and has knowledge of the customer needs of our business. Understands the business cycle and foresight of emerging technologies trends.
  • Provides input on Equipment/Systems problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
  • Cultivates internal and external network of resources to complete tasks. Serves as a resource in the selection orientation and training of new engineers and employees. May lead a project team, determining goals and objectives for the projects. Mentors employees by sharing technical expertise and providing feedback and guidance.
  • Evaluates and leads the implementation of new Equipment/processes through research, analysis, evaluation, selection of software designs, operating systems with identification/verification of requirements using engineering best practices.
  • Understands engineering principles theories, concepts, practices and techniques. Develops knowledge in a field to become a recognized leader or authority in an area of specialization and applies this knowledge in leadership roles in the company.
  • Management of efficient operations within the production area to ensure that production goals are met.
  • Develops direct reports by securing appropriate training, assigning progressively challenging tasks, applying progressive disciplinary action as appropriate and conducting formal written and verbal performance reviews.
  • Will lead a group or team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals. Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.
  • Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives. May direct and control the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations.
  • Accomplishes results through direction and development of lower level employees. Monitors progress toward departmental goals; monitors costs of projects and of human and material resources within the engineering department; monitors external environment in area of technical or professional responsibility. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance.
  • Monitors daily work operations and provides direction and guidance to lower-level staff to achieve unit or project goals.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).
  • Monitors internal and external indicators by reviewing reports and newsletters, reading organizational literature, meeting with peers and reading departmental reports.
  • Manages key initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing processes; develops (with assistance) and implements project plan; builds team ownership and commitment to project plan.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers, by meeting regularly, responding to requests and explaining procedures. Interprets and executes policies that affect work processes and personnel within the assigned organizational unit. Contributes to the development of operational policies and procedures that affect personnel within the assigned organizational unit. Monitors compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g., compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations etc).
  • Interacts cross functionally and with internal and external customers. Serves as a consultant for engineering or scientific interpretations and advice on significant matters. Acts as a spokesperson to customers on business unit current and future capabilities.
  • Contributes to the development and monitoring of area budget through regular analysis of cost and spending.
