POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Calibration Technician is responsible for the calibration support of all instruments and utilities to ensure proper measurement accuracy while adhering to applicable GXP regulations, FDA and USP guidelines and practices. Responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled calibrations on manufacturing equipment using prescribed standard operating procedures. The candidate is proficient in the calibration of temperature, pressure, weight, conductivity, pH and electronic instruments. A self-starter who works unsupervised and maintains high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate; technical school and/or associate degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years of related experience in the LifeScience Services Industry or related field.
  • Familiarity with the basics of metrology.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical approach to solving scientific problems.
  • Experience working with ISO standards.
  • Knowledge of calibration procedures and techniques, including calibration of temperature probes, pH meters, pressure and vacuum instruments.
  • Physically able to work on equipment while bending, kneeling, sitting, and/or standing.
  • Proven excellence in customer service skills and team work oriented.
  • Good understanding of Good Documentation Practices.
  • Strong Interpersonal and communication skills, ability to move between task types and remain efficient, show initiative, good planning and interpersonal skills, look for and pitch process improvements.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office, Maximo, Trackwise, among others).
  • Experience working in a FDA regulated environment a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing routine calibration and repairs to instrument systems and components of production equipment, central utilities and building management systems to specified tolerances.
  • Troubleshooting problems in the event of instrument failure and have the capability to recommend parts needed for the effective repair to return equipment to normal operation.
  • Must have experience using calibration standards, such as RTDs, flow meters, standard solutions and pneumatic and hydraulic pressure/vacuum calibrators
  • Must be proficient calibrating equipment to include RTDs, pressure gauges, conductivity and pH meters, environmental monitoring systems, differential pressure transmitters, refrigerators, freezers, etc.
  • Able to adjust and align instruments to maintain functionality and accuracy using equipment manuals and manufacturer procedures.
  • When applicable, perform repairs of instrumentation vital for maintaining production equipment and utilities.
  • Specify and request purchase of parts or materials and connect with manufacturers and vendors.
  • Assist in qualification of equipment as needed.
  • Utilize and maintain secondary and working calibration standards.
  • Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean an orderly state.
  • Maintain detailed records of calibration activities and ensure all documentation meets quality and GxP requirements.
  • Participate in on-the-job training.
  • Interacts effectively with peers, internal customers, and management to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Possess a positive attitude and the desire to continuously learn.
  • Identify and suggest initiatives for continuous improvement of process, quality, safety and efficiency.
  • Perform work safely and in compliance with EHS requirements
  • Researching new parts and machinery for improved operations.
