Summit Nanotech is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Sr. HR Generalist to work with the People team to provide end-to-end HR programming, guidance and support to employees and leaders across our teams. SKILLS AND QUALITIES

  • 8+ years of HR Business Partner/HR Generalist experience. 5+ years with Compensation/Benefits/Total Rewards would be a strong asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian Federal and Provincial employment law. US experience a plus!
  • A critical thinker who can combine multiple sources of information to create practical solutions and relevant programming, policies and processes.
  • Strong project management skills that drive accountability and results.
  • Startup experience is a plus – history of successfully working and thriving in a high pace/high change environment.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with comfort presenting information in small and large group settings.
  • A positive, “roll up your sleeve” team-player attitude and customer focused approach to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy, and humility.
  • Experience with ADP or other HR Systems is a plus; proficiency with MS Office 365 programs including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Post-secondary education is required, with a preference for a Human Resource-related discipline.
  • CPHR Designation is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, recommend, and implement People solutions in alignment with business goals. This may include Employee Relations, Performance Management, Succession & Workforce Planning, Total Rewards, Disability Management, Benefits, Leadership Development, and Organization Design.
  • Assist with creating an employee experience that is in line with our culture, values, and business strategy.
  • Manage our total rewards offering (compensation, benefits and more) ensuring it is fit for purpose and up to date, competitive and compelling.
  • Evolve and implement People processes across all our programming to ensure consistency and internal equity.
  • Accountable to ensure that People processes are compliant with company policies and current employment legislation in Canada and the US.
  • Provide coaching to employees and leaders to assist them in effectively applying company policies, guidelines and regulations to employee issues and concerns (e.g., performance, behavior, conflict resolution, termination). Mediate and facilitate conflict resolution as required.
  • Make data-driven recommendations that aid in improving team performance, retention, and the overall employee experience across the company.
  • Be visible and accessible in the Calgary office and willing to travel as needed to our other locations.
  • Develop and facilitate training and development as needed.
  • Participate as needed in the audit of our HRIS, payroll, and benefit information to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support our Health and Safety programs and procedures.
