Description:

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with end-to-end systems architecture governance and design principles.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as No Magic Cameo, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect.
  • Operational experience with embedded (low-level) software development, application software development, and/or hardware development.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, being part of a highly integrated team working closely with Hardware, Software, and Integration and Verification teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with NC3 system architecture development, and systems, software, and hardware engineering.
  • Experience in systems engineering and open systems architectures
  • Operations concept development
  • System and product design
  • Model & Requirements management
  • Technical risk management, interface definition and control
  • Experience with aircraft level system integration
  • Development of integration and test plans, test cases and procedures
  • Executing product and system level tests to include experience with automation test tools or scripting
  • Experience in technical proposal writing - Make/Buy Decision-making and trade study experience.
  • Experience with bidding utilizing parametric estimation tools such as SEER.
  • Experience and exposure to other related disciplines such as human factors, system safety, reliability & maintainability, and cybersecurity.
  • Ability to travel domestically (up to 15% of time)

The Collins Aerospace Integrated Strategic Solutions Engineering (ISSE) team is looking for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer that is passionate about model-based systems engineering with the ability to thrive in a highly technical environment. Additionally, this position will be responsible for motivating team members, facilitating meetings, cultivating, and reinforcing appropriate group values, norms and behaviors, and identifying, analyzing and correcting problems.
As a Sr. Principal Mission Systems Lead, you will develop system models, designs, and validate these multiple domain Nuclear Command and Control (NC3) mission systems solutions used on the aircraft and ground stations being developed for our military customers. Primary responsibility will be to focus on customer needs and requirements to design, develop, document and test both hardware and software systems, ranging from black box to the complex end-to-end platform systems. This position will support defining the future of armed forces NC3 defense systems. This position is located in Richardson, TX.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead technical proposal preparation and serve as a subject matter expert in non-advocate, internal and customer reviews
  • Ensures the development and management of technical risks and develops and executes mitigation plans
  • Recommends investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization’s projects.
  • Apply SysML concepts for System Modeling in Cameo across a full engineering lifecycle.
  • Serve as design authority for our ISSE NC3 systems including VLF/LF Design, Development and Integration efforts
  • Lead development and communication of roadmaps for ISSE projects, associated technologies, and product lines
  • Consult with and advise engineering managers, program managers, business development managers, product line managers, and component architects
  • Establish trusted and influential relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Serve as the primary technology and systems engineering focal point for leadership and the customer for ISSE mission equipment packages and solutions
  • Coordinate across strategic business units for alignment of portfolio roadmaps
  • Monitoring cost and schedule and reporting project status to program management and engineering leadership, including serving as Control Account Manager (CAM) for systems engineering efforts
