Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role will support the overall performance of the Asitrade operations in the Chicago Plant. The position will focus on training of staff, process improvement initiatives, and identifying / troubleshooting root cause issues to achieve optimal equipment effectiveness, reduce process variability and increase quality and output.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • A deep knowledge of Asitrade equipment, including a thorough understanding of paper and adhesive properties and performance, corrugating equipment processing, maintenance and troubleshooting of corrugating and auxiliary equipment, employee training methods, waste control methodology, process improvement techniques and quality/food safety control
  • Results orientation; high levels of personal initiative, energy, and ownership for success
  • Understanding of all paper-related manufacturing processes and equipment (forming, gluing, etc.)
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, factory environment

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience in a paper manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 10 years of Asitrade experience.
  • Proven track record of accomplishments and results in the areas of safety, productivity, and product quality
  • Experienced project manager, running multiple projects
  • Experienced in Lean and related continuous improvement tools and methodologies

Responsibilities:

  • Support the training and development of Asitrade equipment operators; ensure operational team members are skilled in the use of tools and techniques to deliver quality and optimal production including making proper in-process adjustments and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Collaborate with Asitrade leaders, equipment operators and engineering team to identify, develop and implement reengineering and other process improvement initiatives, focusing on:
  • Rate
  • Scrap
  • Changeover time
  • Quality
  • Optimizing SKU mix
  • Lead or support the creation of Standard Operating Procedures relating to make-ready’s, tooling set up, process/equipment adjustments, etc. Support standardization efforts across the plant.
  • Handle and coordinate Asitrade tooling and related needs within the plant, including:
  • Ordering tooling
  • Develop or review layouts of new jobs
  • Work with the structural department for the following:
  • #UP
  • Which Asitrade to optimize output
  • Engineering scrap optimization
  • Grain direction
  • Assess all current tooling and determine life cycles for tools (not running to failure); develop and oversee a process to execute the related preventive maintenance
  • Identify improvement initiatives for the maintenance of the Asitrades
  • Manage Asitrade parts as necessary for NPD projects
  • Implement waste control and measurement processes, from roll stock through finished product; focus on good material handling and operating practices that minimize waste, as well as communicating the dollar impact of waste, and holding crews accountable for driving to acceptable waste levels
  • Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance as applicable
