Position: Senior Processing Engineer
Primary Location: North Vancouver
Shift: Salaried - Monday to Friday - 40 hours/week; Overtime needed as per business needs and training objectives.
Reports to: Plant Manager
Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 + Benefits + Bonus
The CAD salary for this position is $120,000 - $130,000 + benefits + bonus. Salaried rates are determined by role, level, and location. The salaried rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering degree from an accredited university with 5-7 years of experience in process engineering and design.

Competencies

  • Ability to travel 5% of the time mostly in Canada, but could include the United States
  • Proficiency in Process design, analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Strong knowledge of PSM to guide and initiate/monitor/audit site safety in a chemical process environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee health and safety.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THIS ROLE AND ABOUT YOU

Monitors routine operations of chemical processing units to assure compliance with established operating procedures. If anomalies are detected, respond as necessary to provide guidance in correction of the problems. Observes plant areas for opportunities for improvement through technical, analytical tools and prepare technical reports including recommendations for modifications. Participates in problem solving and/or goal setting activities of departments as circumstances warrant, providing assistance and expertise to resolve technical issues. Maintains assigned portion of Engineering Office and related information retrieval systems data, vendor files, plant drawings, and the like. Assures that plant engineering services and facilities are available to works personnel and outside consultants, engineers and other personnel. Supports process safety management program including HAZ-OPS, Management of Change (MOC), and the like.
Implements plant capital projects as directed including establishment of project scope, development of Appropriation Request, procurement of materials and project management. Works with management in formulation of capital program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares process engineering designs, calculations, and reports for various projects 35%
  • Participate on various special project teams and audits to ensure compliance with internal and external programs, rules and regulations 15%
  • Participate in implementing standards for measuring and reporting operational reliability as a reflection of operational function effectiveness 10%
  • Participate in the site P&ID program 10%
  • Participates in facility shutdowns to assist with inspections and provide a resource when trouble-shooting problems 10%
  • Attends personal development training 10%
  • Participate in implementing production/processing methods and controls to meet quality & production standards in a safe and cost efficient manner 5%
  • Process Engineering resource for the company to assure the utilization of Good Engineering Practices and proper materials of construction 5%

Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with and promote Chemtrade Environmental, Health& Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report all EH&S incidents (injuries, near misses, releases).
  • Complete all required EH&S training in a timely fashion.
  • Follow all Chemtrade facility and corporate EH&S procedures and practices.
  • Attend and actively participate in facility EH&S meetings and forums that will drive employee involvement.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for EH&S program improvement
  • Participate in job safety analysis activities
