Take on a pivotal role in owning, developing, implementing and maintaining a highly successful occupational health and safety program with focus on injury reduction, equipment and job function risk assessments and associated training requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8 years minimum experience in chemical or high tech manufacturing occupational health and safety engineering.
  • Education: B.S. in Engineering (Safety Engineering or Industrial Hygiene preferred)
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: BS or MS degree in Occupational Health & Safety Field,
  • Laser Safety Officer training
  • Radiation Safety Officer training
  • CIH or CSP certificate

EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING:

  • Familiar with ISO45001 or OHSAS18001 programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs job hazard assessments and implements hazardous risk reduction improvements.
  • Reviews new chemicals for hazards to employees and the environment and updates training and PPE requirements as necessary.
  • Performs gas and chemical exposure assessments.
  • Successful implementation and maintains the ISO45001 program.
  • Drives actions to achieve industry leading TRIR through use of leading and lagging performance metrics.
  • Manages and drives a successful Emergency Response Team.
  • Prepares and submits periodic permit required reporting and permit renewals.
  • Interacts with injured employees and Workers Compensation insurance staff on injuries.
  • Manages safety trainings.
  • Leads plant safety team meetings, goals and related projects.
  • Leads 8D corrective action teams for all OSHA recordable injuries and chemical exposure incidents.
  • Acts as site Laser Safety Officer and Radiation Safety Officer
  • Coordinates emergency response drills as necessary
  • Backs up environmental engineering duties.
  • The job also requires performing other duties as assigned.
