Sr Sales & Use Tax Accountant

We are in search of a Sales & Use Tax Accountant to join our team in West Palm Beach, Florida. In this role, you will be tasked with managing sales and use tax audits in a multi-state environment, working in collaboration with cross-functional teams, and assisting business operations to implement processes that mitigate tax liabilities.

• Perform multi-state audit defense for Sales & Use, Severance, Business Licenses, and Fuel Taxes
• Conduct state and local tax research projects
• Lead or assist with multi-state and local tax due diligence analysis
• Provide support with Tax Technology for SAP and Vertex to ensure proper taxation
• Draft technical letters to state officials on tax interpretation
• Secure and implement special exemptions
• Engage in continuous improvements to streamline tax work processes
• Develop and execute training for internal customers
• Prepare reconciliation of related Sales and Use tax accounts
• Stage and prepare tax data files for sales & use tax and other statutory filings
• Respond to internal questions on state and local tax issues
• Resolve tax issues for external customers in a timely manner
• Perform necessary work to guarantee increased compliance
• Carry out other tasks as needed to ensure compliance with S& U Tax Laws.
• Proven experience as a Sales & Use Tax Accountant for a minimum of 5 years.
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems to manage financial transactions.
• Demonstrated experience in Auditing, ensuring the accuracy of financial operations.
• Strong understanding of Compliance regulations in accounting and tax laws.
• Expertise in Vertex Sales & Use Tax software to streamline tax processes.
• Knowledge of Indirect Tax Compliance, ensuring adherence to local and federal tax laws.
• Experience in managing Tax Audits, defending the company’s tax positions.
• Familiarity with Fuel Tax laws and regulations, especially in the context of sales and use tax.
• MBA degree to provide a strong foundation in business and financial management.
• Current CPA License to authenticate professional competence in the field of accounting.
