Summary
Responsible for safeguarding the organization’s computer networks and systems by identifying risks, planning, and implementing security measures to protect data integrity and availability.
Salary: Depending on qualification and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify security risks and present risk assessment to management.
  • Design, develop, implement, and improve enterprise security architecture to mitigate risk and support business and technology solutions.
  • Review, assess, and recommend security tools, applications, and processes.
  • Conduct and assist with security assessments, vulnerability testing, and risk analysis.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for security tools, applications, and processes.
  • Identify, manage, and report key security performance indicators to management.
  • Interact directly with infrastructure teams to align and execute infrastructure changes to support security practices.
  • Author and maintain security policy and process documentation.
  • Lead the implementation of cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks.
  • Author and maintain the City’s incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff in the above tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • 2 years experience performing risk analysis
  • 2 years experience implementing cyber security frameworks
  • 2 years experience automating processes using widely employed scripting languages

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering or related field of study
  • 7 years Microsoft Windows Server experience
  • 5 years experience in an information security role
  • 2 years experience in Microsoft 365 E5 Security Stack and Microsoft Sentinel
  • 3 years experience in Systems logging, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and enterprise firewalls

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols
  • Knowledge of cyber security frameworks
  • Knowledge of IT organizational practices
  • Strong communication skills - ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical staff
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical capabilities and outstanding problem-solving skills

Licenses and Certifications

  • CISSP or similar information security certification preferred (or acquire within one year of employment)
  • CEH or similar penetration testing certification preferred (or acquire within one year of employment)
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver’s license

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
The incumbent works in a typical office environment; relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.
