Sr. Software Engineer (Full stack)
Capital One’s Card Technology team is expanding in Richmond and we’re looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer with a passion for technology, design, and learning to join our team!
For this role, Capital One is looking for a Software Engineer to provide full stack expertise on our authorizations team. We’re looking for eager talent to come onboard our growing team in an effort to build out and streamline our authorizations platform for our card retail partners.
As a Capital One Software Engineer, you’ll work on large scale reliable applications that impact the way that Capital One does business. You will participate in the detailed technical design, development and implementation of applications using emerging technologies such as: Java, Docker, Python, REST, JSON, XML, HTML / HTML5, CSS, Serverless, NoSQL databases, relational databases, Chef, Terraform, Maven, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few.
In this Full Stack Software Engineer role you will:

Write code (delivering elegant and scalable solutions in Java, Python and JavaScript to name a few)

  • Demand quality (developing in a test driven manner with automation in mind),
  • Collaborate (partnering well with a diverse and passionate team)
  • Learn (adapting quickly to an evolving market and emerging trends)
  • Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
  • Continuously improve software engineering practices
  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies
  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of emerging technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Python, Go, or Node.js
  • 1+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
  • 3+ years of experience in open source frameworks
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
  • At least 1 year of experience with Spring framework
  • At least 1 years experience in one of the following: REST, WebSockets or gRPC
  • At least 1 years experience in one of the following QA technologies: JUnit, ATDD, Cucumber, and Postman
  • 1+ year experience of Container development experience
  • 1+ UI development using HTML/CSS/Javascript/AngularJS
